Who writes this, and where the money comes from

This site is written by a loyal Octopus customer, switched in 2023 and stayed. It is not run by Octopus Energy, not endorsed by them, and not an official channel. If you want the official version of anything here, go to octopus.energy.

How it is paid for

When someone switches using the link on this site, Octopus pays a referral reward: £50 of account credit to the person switching, and the same again to whoever referred them. That second half is what funds this site.

We do not add a cash top-up on the switcher’s side, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The offer here is the standard £50, which is what you would get from any valid referral link. What this site adds is an accurate account of the rules, so the credit actually arrives.

That is the only revenue here. No advertising, no data selling, no comparison-site kickbacks. It also means we have an obvious incentive to tell you to switch, which is why every page on this site carries a section telling you when not to.

Which programme this operates under

Octopus runs several referral schemes. The refer-a-friend link is for people you actually know, and Octopus can withdraw credit or deactivate links used commercially. Sites like this one belong on the High Referrer programme, where the referrer invoices Octopus directly. That is the basis this site runs on.
