Outgoing Octopus: getting paid for solar export
Outgoing Octopus pays you for electricity you export to the grid, either at a flat rate or at a half-hourly rate that follows wholesale prices.
| Best for | Solar owners, especially with a battery that can hold export back for high-price periods. |
| You need | Solar panels with an MCS certificate. An export-capable smart meter. An Octopus import account. |
The catch
The flat rate is simpler; the agile export rate pays more only if you can time export. Do not switch to the variable version without a battery.
